Freight forwarding
China shipping agent for export freight from China
A China shipping agent coordinates the mode, the space, the truck on the China side, and the documents that have to match the boxes. The work starts when you buy, make, or store goods in China and need them in another country.

What a China shipping agent coordinates
The modes are the ordinary ones. Ocean freight is a full container or shared space, and it suits cargo that can accept a voyage measured in weeks. A full container is a 20-foot, 40-foot, or 40-foot high-cube box sealed for one shipper. Less-than-container load shares the box and adds handling at origin and again before delivery. The booking can be port to port, or it can include the truck.
Air freight is for cargo that cannot wait for a vessel. The chargeable weight is the greater of the gross weight and the volume weight. Batteries, liquids, and magnetic material can limit the flights that will accept the cargo, so name them at the start. Rail sits between the cost of ocean freight and the speed of air. It loads at an inland hub such as Chongqing, Xi’an, Chengdu, Zhengzhou, or Yiwu, and hands over at Duisburg, Hamburg, or Małaszewicze.
Express carries cartons that fit a courier’s limits, with pickup in many Chinese cities. A warehouse can receive cargo from more than one factory and hold it for the departure. Door-to-door adds the truck and the delivery only where that delivery can be arranged. FBA carriage follows your plan: you supply the shipment ID, the fulfillment center, and the delivery window.
On that file, a China shipping agent does not open the seller account, choose the fulfillment center, or promise an appointment. The same limit applies to the mode itself: space, equipment, and local rules decide what is available on the date you need.
What stays with the shipper
A forwarder does not take over the shipper’s responsibilities. You still say what the goods are, what they are worth, and how they are packed, and you confirm the HS code before anyone files an entry. The forwarder will not invent a commodity description. If the packing list and the cartons disagree, the shipment waits.
Customs work on a file is document coordination. The invoice, packing list, and draft bill of lading are checked against each other before an export declaration is filed. At destination, the file is coordinated with the broker you appoint. Licenses stay with the importer.
Batteries, liquids, and out-of-gauge pieces have to be named at the start, because many ships and flights will not take them. Awkward pieces need dimensions. A photo of the packed cargo helps. A quote made from guessed dimensions is not a quote an airline will honor.
How a file moves from the first note to a booking
You describe the cargo: the ready date, the places, and the weight, volume, or container size. A route is then proposed. The reply names ocean, air, rail, express, or a combination, plus what is still needed before anyone can book. Origin is handed off when pickup, export documents, and loading are coordinated with the supplier or warehouse. The file stays open, and you hear if the plan changes while you can still act. A China shipping agent keeps that sequence; the shipper still owns the facts inside it.
A quote is a proposal for one shipment, not a guaranteed rate or transit time. Nothing moves until the offer is confirmed in writing and the documents match the cargo. The sailing, flight, or train named in a quote is the one that was available when the quote was written. Plans move, so the booking includes the cutoff at the port, airport, or rail hub rather than a fixed journey time.
Destinations shippers ask about often include the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, and Australia. The answer still depends on the commodity, the packing, and the carrier that has space. A search for an agent to some other country is not, by itself, a lane this site has described.

Questions people ask a forwarder
How do I find a China shipping agent?
Start with the cargo, not with a slogan. Send the city or port where a truck can collect, the place of delivery, the weight and volume, and anything the carrier must know before it will accept the goods. The freight services page shows what each mode needs. The quote form is how a live file starts.
What does a China shipping agent do with one shipment?
The agent lines up a workable mode, space with a carrier, the truck on the China side, and documents that match the boxes. A coordinator follows the file and writes when a sailing, a flight, or a train changes. The agent does not replace your description of the goods or your confirmation of the HS code.
Do I need a freight forwarder for goods I bought in China?
You need one when you would otherwise have to book the main carriage, the China-side truck, and the export documents yourself. You still state what the goods are, what they are worth, and how they are packed. If a commercial term such as FOB, EXW, or DDP is already agreed, send it, because it changes who books the main carriage and who pays local charges.
Can one forwarder arrange sea, air, and rail?
Yes. The mode is suggested from the cargo and the deadline. Ocean, air, rail, or express can stand alone or sit inside a door-to-door move when the lane allows it. The recommendation is not tied to a single product, and space, equipment, and local rules still decide what is available on the date you need.
Does a quote from the agent book the shipment?
No. A quote is a proposal for one shipment. It is not a booking, not a guaranteed rate, and not a fixed transit time. Work starts when both sides confirm it in writing and the documents match the cargo. The terms of use say the same thing.
What should I send before a route is proposed?
Name where the cargo is and where it must be delivered, how large it is, when it must move, and which incoterm applies if one is already agreed. A ready date and a must-arrive date are different facts. If the pieces are batteries, liquids, or out of gauge, name them in the first note.
Request a quote from a China shipping agent
Origin, destination, weight, and how soon the cargo must arrive are enough to start. Sending the form does not book the shipment.
